Deeply touching and heartwarming. I was expecting a good story but quickly found so much more.Written from two different perspectives, this book reveals how intelligent, emotionally aware, intuitive, and capable of unconditional love our dogs truly are.I laughed, I cried, and most importantly believe even more deeply that the bond between animals and humans is complex, strong, deeply symbolic, and a true gift for both.Thank you for sharing not only your story, but Celeste’s as well!Amazing story and must read for all animal lovers. I could relate to the authors' bond and connection with her dogs, but this book overall read like a very basic memoir of "then this happened, then this, then this, etc" and lacked the depth I usually like to feel when I read. I felt the writing style and presentation were very simple, and lacked much deeper reflection or meaning. The book goes back and forth between a dog's voice and the authors, but they usually both just give the same simple account of a particular event. At times the author has a dismissive and/or arrogant tone toward others in her stories, and while it may be an accurate part of the story, I found it to be off-putting. If you're looking for a very basic account about the ups and downs of owning pets, go for it. if you like to feel gripped by an author's writing and insights, this may not be the best option.
